摘要 <p>1433090 Laminated carbonaceous brake discs GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 20 March 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 12315/74 Heading B5N A brake disc element comprises a reuseable base element 10 of lightweight carbon-based material, said element having a bulk density of at least 1À4 grams per c.c., a flexural strength perpendicular to the lamina of at least 9000 pounds per square inch, an interlaminar shear strength of at least 1000 pounds per square inch, and an impact strength perpendicular to the lamina of from 10 to 50 pounds per inch, and a lightweight carbon-based facing material 12, 14 attached to at least one face of the base element to form at least one wear plate, said facing material having a maximum wear rate of 0À0009 inches per face per braking stop and a minimum friction coefficient of 0À10, both at disc loadings of 40,000 foot pounds per pound. The facing material may be attached to the base element by adhesive layer(s) 16, 18; alternatively, as described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown), the facing material may be riveted to the base element. The adhesive may be a graphite cement or carbon paper or carbon or graphite cloth impregnated with a furfural rosin optionally admixed with a catalyst, e.g. maleic anhydride. In producing a brake disc element comprising an adhesive, the assembly of components may be initially baked in an oven or under pressure (e.g. 200 to 2000 lbs. per sq. inch) in a press at a temperature of from 200‹ to 500‹ F., a second bake being effected, e.g. at from 2000‹ to 3000‹ F. to pyrolize the adhesive.</p>
