<p>1388911 Porous ceramics FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd 3 Jan 1973 [14 Jan 1972] 1927/72 Heading C1J An organic foam, e.g. of polyurethane, is treated to break down the foam with a glycol, a fatty acid having at least 11 C atoms or an alkoxy derivative of an amine, prior to or during impregnation with a ceramic slurry, dried and fired. The treatment gives rise to a coherent foam structured mix of ceramic and foam breakdown products rather than a foam coated with ceramic particles. Examples of the treating agent are mono- and di-ethylene glycols, stearic and oleic acids and mono-, di-, and triethanolamines. In examples the slip contains dextrin, kaolin, sejenite, alumina, polyacrylamide, and anti-foamants.</p> |
