The subject matter of the invention is a method for producing a shaft for receiving a flap in a valve device, in which method a preshaft is produced, in each case one bearing seat is produced in the region of the two ends of the preshaft, and a receptacle is produced in a region which is arranged between the two bearing seats. The receptacle is produced in such a way that it can receive two flaps, and that the preshaft is subsequently severed in a region which lies between the two flaps, with the result that the preshaft is separated into two shafts.
