The pulley is controlled by a cable, cord or similar and it is attached indirectly to one end of the roller. Another mechanism, which gears down the rotary movement of the pulley is attached to the opposite end of the pulley. The latter mechanism is preferably of the planetary type. Both the pulley and the reducing mechanisms are each mounted in a bowl-shaped housing with a shoulder enabling it to be fixed into a guide. The mechanism may be used to raise and lower a roller blind.
