<p>Automatic racking device, for grape prods. after maceration or after fermentation, consists of a cylindrical tank inclined at an angle of 35 degrees which is just sufficient to ensure spontaneous sliding of the prod. obtd. One end of the cylinder slopes to a cone which is extended by a cylindrical portion. A shaft, driven through the redn. gear, turns the Archimedean screw. The lowest zone of the tank wall has perforations and the drainings pass by the pipe to a storage tank. The marc regularly and automatically progresses towards the pump being aided by the calculated slope of the tank; this also prevents any bridging effects. The construction of the tank is simplified as it does not have to rotate. Undue compaction of the must is avoided as it progresses automatically by gravity to the evacuation screw.</p> |
