<p>The picture frame (1) uses spring clips (11) to hold the picture (12) in place and can accept pictures on mounting boards of varying thickness. The frame members (1) are of channel section with opposed grooves (7) on the internal walls. The grooves locate angle irons at mitre-joined frame corners, and also serve to anchor cantilever clips (11) which bear on the back of the mounting board (12). The base of the channel (1) extends laterally on one side to form a flange seating the edge of the mounting board (12). The clips (11) may be of curved (15, 16) blade spring with a hooked end (14) and a nipple formation (13) which engages a channel groove (7). The channel may have two sets of opposed grooves, thus, adopting an 'I' section, and corner angle irons may be located in both groove sets. In this case the superimposed angle irons at a corner are joined by screws on the channel axis normal to the picture plane.</p> |
