Welding or brazing wire contains a pickling flux in the form of powder or paste which melts and flows along the wire during welding. The wire consists of a tube formed by bending metal strip where the two longitudinal edges of the strip overlap; and the tube is filled with the flux. The overlap of the strip edges is pref. 30-90 degrees and the resulting tube may also be bent in a circle to form a brazing ring. The tube is pref. made from flat strip bent in four successive operations to make the tube; during forming, two dosing pistols are pref. employed to feed the flux at a controlled rate into the tube. A constant ratio metal flux is obtd. so the wire can be used e.g. on automatic brazing machines.
|
