So that objects, particularly forms (14) provided with markings which are moved past the sensor (15) can be optionally scanned at their top or underside, the sensor (15) is supported preferably longitudinally displaceably on a longitudinal leg (4) of a rectangular frame (2). The frame (2) itself is arranged perpendicularly to the plane of the form and to the direction of the form transport in a holder (10, 11) in such a manner that the forms (14) move straight through the frame in the centre of the frame height.
