<p>In the parent patent. a positioner, with a variable chamber, is used in the barrel of hypodermic tranquillising weapons. In the addition a smoke-producing tracer cup, fits the syringe. It is ignited when the cartridge is fired but it does not interfere with the propulsive force. The syringe is unchanged except that its rear and is drilled axially to receive a build-up ring of the same dia., contg. the tracer charge. A conical portion allows it to be pushed into position by hand and prevents disengaging during the flight of the syringe. The tracer charge projects a short distance into the forward element of the positioner in the gun barrel. The combustion of the tracer allows the trajectory and point of impact of the syringe to be controlled without risk of damaging the fins on the latter. The variable chamber allows a single type of cartridge to be used. While the tracer charge enables the flight of the syringe to be observed so that the loss of expensive syringes is avoided.</p> |
