The front-mounted mower consists of a frame (2) open at the front, of mowing shoes (3) connected to the latter and of a cutter bar fastened at both ends to the mowing shoes (3). The frame (2) has at the rear a crossmember (7) and on each side a preferably tubular spar (6), these spars (6) being connected to one another by means of the bracket plates (8). The top side (39) of the mowing shoes (3) is set at an acute angle ( alpha ) and their front side (21) at a steeper angle (ss) relative to the slip-heel plane (17). The tips (19) of the mowing shoes (3) are at distance from the slip-heel plane (17) which is 6 to 8 times greater than the distance between the cutting plane and the slip-heel plane (17). The top sides (39) of the mowing shoes (3) merge continuously into the top sides (40) of the spars (6) fastened rigidly to the rear side of the mowing shoes (3). The front-mounted mower can be mounted exchangeably on the lifting unit of the vehicle and allows rapid and clog-free mowing together with a high performance per unit area. <IMAGE>
