1513513 Grab bucket SOC YUMBO 18 May 1976 [20 May 1975] 20487/76 Heading B8H A grab bucket for use in in digging or shovelling mode comprises a central vertical actuator 1, a pair of bucket shells 5a, 5b pivoted to the lower end of the cylinder 3 of the actuator and a pair of additional actuators 8a, 8b connected between the bucket shells and a crossbeam 10 fixed to the piston rod 2 of the actuator. In use by suitable operation of appropriate control valves (12), (13), (15) Fig. 4 (not shown) the actuator 1 can act as a rigid strut whilst the actuators 8a, 8b are operated to pivot the bucket shells in a "digging" mode or the actuators can act as struts and the actuator 1 is operated to again pivot the bucket shells but in a "shovelling" mode. Gear segments 11a, 11b are attached to respective bucket shells 5a, 5b and mesh with one another to ensure simultaneous movement of the bucket shells. The control valves (12), (13) (15) may be actuated such that the actuators 1, 8a, 8b operate simultaneously. |
