1532095 Studs for partition walls UNITED STATES GYPSUM CO 17 May 1976 [27 May 1975] 20224/76 Heading E1W Studs for fire-retardant partition walls formed from a single sheet of metal have a web portion 18; two pairs of oppositely directed flanges 12, (12'), 20 at each edge of the web, each pair of flanges comprising one flange formed of a double layer of sheet metal folded over on itself on one side of the web and extending beyond the web to form a single layer flange; and a further web 29 extending from one of the single flanges away from and parallel to the first web and terminating in a further flange 32 parallel to the first flanges. The stud channels 27, 28. (27', 28') defined by the first web and pair of flanges, in conjunction with upper and lower J-runners 56, 60 support gypsum wallboard panels 64, and a second set of wallboard panels 65 is secured to the outside a flange 32 of the stud. A third set of wallboard panels 66 is secured either to the second set of panels 65 or to the outside of flange 12 (12') of the stud (Fig. 8 not shown). |
