The pressure controller is for a compressed air system having a compressed air cylinder charged by a continuously running compressor through a non-return valve. The stored pressure is applied through a channel to a piston in a cylinder controlling a release valve before the non-return valve. It is opened when the required cylinder pressure in reached, in order to unload the compressor, and re-closed when the pressure falls to a min. value. A control rod passes through a diaphragm measuring the pressure against a nominal pressure spring. One end of the rod enters into a chamber connected with atmosphere and containing the adjustment spring, and the other end is guided in the housing.
