The electronic wrist watch has a secondary cell, which is recharged via a photocell (4) positioned behind the passive electro-optical display (1). A semi-reflecting mirror (5) is positioned between the display (1) and the photocell (4) to reflect light having a wavelength less than that of green light and to transmit light having a wavelength greater than that of yellow light. Pref. the semi-reflecting mirror (5) is formed on the front surface of a matt glass plate (6) which forms a diffusor for the display (1) with the photocell (4) lying against the rear surface of the glass plate (6). A second diffuser may be positioned between the semi-reflecting mirror (5) and the display (1).
