Multicomponent yarn or sewing thread texturising - uses compressed air pulses on wound core to fix cladding to core by sections

The process uses a multifilament core with a wound cladding of >=1 multifilament spiral winding. After the cladding phase, the thread is passed continuously across a jet which delivers pulses to tumble the filaments by section so that the cladding is fixed to the core in sections. During the jet treatment, the core is tensed while the cladding is relaxed round it. The core and the cladding are of different materials, the pref. material for the core being a continuous polyester filament, with a semi-synthetic rayon being pref. for the cladding. The process gives the thread or yarn a twisted and textured character, but allows it to be used freely by sewing machine needles.
