The lever-operated split locking ring (1) has a closure mechanism comprising a locking lever (2, 3) and a latch (5, 6) which becomes operative when the lever is depressed and holds it in that position. The locking, ring, the components of the closure (2, 3, 4a, 4b) and the latch (5, 6) are in plastic. The ring may consist of a resilient, relatively flexible plastic whilst the closure and latch components are in a rigid plastic e. g. PVC. The latch (5, 6) may be so arranged that the ring cannot be unlocked without resilient deformation of certain elements (X) of a latch component (5). The latch may consist of a bore (6) in the lever, engaged by a mushroom-shaped head (5) on the ring, the head having a cavity on the under side.
