The agricultural implement is particularly for cutting silage, and has a supporting block movable horizontally, and equipped with a vertically-acting hydraulic or pneumatic ram with a knife or blade at the lower end, the ram folding down horizontally for transport. The ram (6) is coupled to the block (4) by one or more removable locking devices (8) between them, and guide arms (9), hinging on the ram cylinder at one end, and on the block at a point clear in the horizontal direction of the locking devices. Other locking devices, when inserted, prevent axial movement of the ram rod (5) once retracted, but allow pivoting. Thus once the ram cylinder locking devices are released and those for the rod inserted, and fluid under pressure is delivered to the cylinder via a union (14) at the top, the cylinder slides on the piston under the control of the arm, and swings into the horizontal transport position. Fluid or air is delivered via a further union (13) to the bottom cylinder end, swinging it up into the working position again.
