1289181 Flavouring UNILEVER Ltd 19 Dec 1969 [23 Dec 1968] 61955/69 Heading A2B [Also in Division C2] A flavouring agent comprises a 2-acetyl or 2-propionyl-2-thiazoline or a 5-methyl, ethyl or propyl derivative thereof, having the formula: wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a methyl or ethyl group and R<SP>2</SP> is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms. The agent may be used alone or in combination with one or more other flavouring agents, numerous examples of which are given, and is incorporated into the foodstuff in an amount of from 0.01 to 5 mg/kg. The agent may also be incorporated in an edible diluent or carrier in an amount of from 0.1 to 10 mg/g. Examples describe the incorporation of a composition containing the novel agent into a paprika meat sauce, a tomato meat sauce, stock cubes, cakes and shortcakes. |
