The goods handling pallet has a rectangular flat base, with an upright at each corner hinging between the folded position parallel to the base and the vertical one. Each upright (16) is spring-loaded (33) to assist its hinging movement into the vertical position. The spring can be of the coil type between fixed points (31, 34) on upright and base, at maximum and minimum lengths when the upright is folded and vertical respectively. Alternatively it can be of the torsion type, acting against stops on base and upright. Other stops can also be provided, to prevent the uprights hinging beyond the vertical position.
