Method comprises hydrolysing the half-finished prod. of sugar factory (e.g. raw cane juice, raw sugar, cane molasses, beet molasses or refinery molasses) to form glucose and fructose, sepg. the formed fructose partly by adding calcium to the hydrolysate; neutralising the remaining soln. with gaseous carbon dioxide and using the neutralised prod. directly as the material for citric acid fermentation using yeast of Candida. The sugar purity of the material is decreased by recovering fructose, but the fermentation yield is increased. Sugars in the material can be better utilised and the load for treating waste water is not increased. Citric acid and fructose are prepd. inexpensively.
|
