The optical fibre coupling consists of a housing (1) which is detachably assembled from a lower part (2) and an upper part (3). Integrally formed in the housing is a chamber (6) which optionally accommodates, either directly or, by means of an adaptor sleeve (8) indirectly, a light-emitting diode or a similar electro-optic component (7). A receiving bore (17) assigned to the chamber is matched in its diameter to the contact pin (14) of an optical fibre cable (11) which, inserted into the receiving bore, is detachably retained inside the housing between a stop shoulder (18) and a locating finger (28) forming a component of the housing upper part (3). The connections (10) of the electro-optic element can project directly from the housing or be connected to bushes inside the housing. <IMAGE>
