<p>Device for extracting a glass ribbon from the exit of a float tank comprises an exit region closed by a succession of sealing curtains, a cooling grid arranged along the length of the lower face of the float tank, and rollers for removing the glass. The rollers are housed in a box located between the float tank and the subsequent part of the manufacturing process, having openings at the front and back for passage of the glass strip. The device permits a regular thermal transition to take place between the furnace and the subsequent steps. avoiding sudden shock on contact with air, after contact with the reducing or neutral gas in the float tank. The box contg. the extracter rolls comprises a lower O-shaped cradle and a U-shaped roof, the side walls of which rest on the side walls of the cradle. The upper edges of the two side walls of the lower grade contg. the ralls are at a level at least equal to that of the upper generatrix of the extractor ralls. One at least of the lower, cradle faces the furnace exit and the entrance to the subsequent operation is closed by a transverse wall the upper edge of which is higher than the lowest point of the upper generator. The cradle contg. the extractor ralls is pref. on a carriage movable across the end of the furnace.</p> |
