A powdered-cored welding wire has a outer sheath. The outer sheat is composed of a hollow metal profile and encloses the powder. After cold shaping, the resulting blank has a relatively rectangular cross-section with width 5 times greater than the thickness. the blank is also sealed i.e. leakage of powder cannot occur and gases cannot enter. Leakage of powder will not occur during subsequent (de)coiling or treatment in gases or liqs. Large weld can be obtd. by arc welding with(out) a protective gas or under a flux. thus welding time is reduced. As with conventional electrodes prods. which control and affect the arc and the weld pool can be incorporated in the wire/strip. The wire is partic. useful for cladding parts with stainless steels, wear or shock resistant stals, martensitic Cr steels, Cr-Mn steels and high speed steels.
|
