The drain valve for the sump of an engine is fitted into a horizontal bore at the bottom of the sump housing. A valve spool has an internal thread which engages with the external thread of a bolt, the head of which is accessible from the outside. By turning the bolt with a spanner, the spool is moved axially and opens or closes the drain opening. The bottom of the oil sump housing (11) has a horizontal bore (12). A spool with a central waisted portion (13) and two sealing collars (14, 15) has an internal thread (23) which engages in the thread (22) of a bolt (20). Pins (25), sliding in slots (24) prevent any rotation when the spool is moved axially by turning the head of the bolt (20).
|
