The electronic max. value monitoring device has adjustable waiting time and is controlled by pulses of a pulse counter proportional to the energy consumption. A time-base circuit generates the nominal values. Its response value is adjustable and its output delivers signals when maxima are exceeded. Loads are disconnected after an adjustable waiting time has elapsed. Waiting time generation is based on readings of a digital nominal value counter. It is digitally compared with a value adjustable by a coding switch so that, when a preselected value is reached, a bistable stage stores a signal. When a max. is exceeded, this signal is linked to the excess signal delivered by a comparator, and a load shedding relay is operated.
