The orthopaedic appts. comprises a curved body support mounted for swivel movement in a support. In the curved position, the device performs the stretching operation. The body support is pref. made up of several individual ball-bearing mounted swivel members which can be separately adjusted by a fine adjustment mechanism. A lever is used by the patient to raise or lower the body. The ends of the frame have a fixed weight coupling (2) at one end and a fixture for a weight of variable value (10-50 Kg) at the other end.
