Mfr. of a flame-resistant or non-flammable chipboard comprises mixing adhesive-coated woodchips with expanded vermiculite which is not coated with glue, and press-moulding the resulting mixt. into a board or panel. The proportion of woodchips in the press-moulding mixt. is pref. >=50% of the compsn. the vermiculite may pref. amount to >1/2 of the total compsn. Combines the desirable characteristics of woodchip mouldings (e.g. easy machining, tensile and flexural strength) with those of vermiculite viz non-flammability.
