Low capacitance multiple twin quad telephone cable - with axes of pairs in quad at right angles and supported by foam plastics insulating core

The multiple twin quad telephone cable is constructed from conductors which are first laid up in pairs having the same direction of lay. The length of lay may be the same or may be the same or may differ. The pairs are then twisted into a multiple twin quad configuration, the direction of lay being opposite to that of the pairs. The pairs are laid up so that the axes joining the centres of the respective pairs are at right-angles to each other (a) (b). The L, inverted T and mirrored L configurations are produced at intervals a long the length of the cable by rotating the axes.
