The HV cable may be used for medium voltages. It has an uneven outer surface to its outer conducting sheath. Theuneveness consists of longitudinal recesses or projections making corrugations or meader-shaped lines along the cable. The outersheath (8) consists of a copper foil seam welded longitudinally. The foil is attached by vacuum-sucking onto the outer surface of the cable or by external pressure from the outer thermoplastic sheath. The width of the foil is equal to or greater than the circumference of the cable. The advantage lies in providing a moisture seal without sacrificing flexibility.
