Air induction system for motor vehicles - uses ram air pressure caused by forward motion of vehicle to boost output of vehicle engine at high speed

There is a pressure chamber (3) located in front of the radiator (2) in which ram air connects at its slagnation pressure. The air is fed via a suitable channel (1) to the air filter (4). The air may be preheated to a favourable combustion temperature. An electrically or mechanically operated fan may be provided to boos the air intake at slow speeds. A fuel consumption saving of up to 10 per cent is claimed for heavy traffic conditions and up to 20 per cent saving for open country work. A decrease in harmful exhaust emissions is also claimed.
