<p>A vertical cylinder is used as a biological treatment chamber for household waste and solidified sewage. At the lower end of the chamber, a vertical shaft locates a number of equally spaced horizontal arms, which are provided with radial spokes. When an indexing mechanism turns the rotor assembly a controlled amount of the content is moved into a collecting trough below. Blades which are driven by a motor rotate about the central vertical shaft and move the treated sewage to an exit nozzle. The rotor spokes break up the solids as it turns in the cylinder, to leave a pumpable mass of waste.</p> |
