A cylindrical brush (4) is mounted on a drive shaft (3) on whose one end a drive motor is attached (5). The complete brush and drive assembly is located by two swing levers which are acted on by two coil springs. The brush assembly and its mounting frame is installed underneath the return loop of a conveyor belt (1), such that the cleaning brush makes contact with the conveyor belt near the pulley. By regulating the spring load that acts on the swing lever frame, the contact pressure between cleaning brush and belt can be selected in order to suit the conditions.
