The cord (3) is embedded in an enlarged end (2) of the fastener. The other end (6) is also enlarged and has a longitudinal groove. The sides of the groove are inclined downwards so that there is a narrowest part, and below this restriction the groove has a circular cross-section. The central part of the buckle has a hole through it. This hole has a notch cut in it adjacent to the end with the groove. The width of the open end of the notch is no wider than the groove. The cord is pulled into the notch then pressed into the groove. The cord is elastic and is stretched before being pressed into the groove, reducing its diameter. On release, the cord expands and is gripped in the groove. |
