Function generator with nonlinear output - uses resistive potential divider chains and logic gates for response curve adjustment

The function generator with non-linear output consists of a series chain of resistors across which is a potential corresp. to the dynamic range of the generator input voltage. This potential is also across a chain of parallel-connected potentiometers. The junction of each resistor, corresponding to X-axis ordinates, is connected to controlled switches and to comparator inputs. The comparator outputs are connected via exclusive-OR gates for further switches connected to the potentiometer wipers. Both groups of switch circuits are connected to differential amplifiers whose outputs are multiplied. The product is added to a voltage corresp. to the start point of the X-axis increment. The sum voltage is the generator output for that particular input voltage.
