The present invention relates to a novel Xenorhabdus nematophila C2-3 strain having insecticidal activity, to a culture medium of the strain, and to an insecticidal composition comprising the same as effective components for killing lepidopteran insect pests. According to the present invention, the Xenorhabdus nematophila C2-3 strain or the culture medium thereof have excellent insecticidal activity against lepidopteran insects, and are useful for an eco-friendly pest control formulation and a microbial pesticide.
