1492416 Seaming RELIANCE ELECTRIC CO 17 July 1975 30061/75 Heading B5K [Also in Division F2] In a shaft bearing assembly the bearing ins@ 14 for journalling shaft 16 is held in alignment on the shaft by a housing body 20 and retainer 60 both formed out of a plastics material which are fused together at their interface 62 by ultrasonic vibrations thereby forming a cavity in which the bearing insert is seated. The assembly once formed is permanent and replacement of any parts of the bearing in the event of failure is generally infeasible. The plastics body and retainer are moulded using conventional methods, e.g. injection moulding to produced components of the desired configuration. |
