<p>Fire retardant compsn. comprises an organic cpd. and 1,1,2,3,4,4 -hexabromo-butene-2(I). Pref. for thermoplastic polymers e.g. polyethylene, pobrinylchloride etc., contg. 5-50%, partic. 10-25% of (I); aromatic vinyl polymers e.g. polystyrene etc. contg. 0.2-50% partic. 0.6-10% of (I); polyurethane resins contg. 5-50%, partic. 10-30% of (I); resin contg. coating compsns. with 10-40% of (I) and textile tissues and fibres with 15-100% of (I). Partic. polyurethane foams the hexabromo cpd. (I) is pref. a mixture of 90% trans and 10% as cpd. A composition for treating textiles comprises an emulsion from (I) and an N-alkylpyrrolidino, an aromatic hydrocarbon and a nonionic emulsifier; the emulsion contg. 2-10% of (I). The compsn. is effective, partic. with polyurethane, without having an adhesive effect on the physical properties of the organic material.</p> |
