A packing for a gp. of objects, esp. bottles or cans of preserves, etc., comprises an envelope wrapped round the objects and open at its two ends. It is formed from a flat rectangular sheet, the two opposing edges of which are fastened together to close the envelope. These two opposing edges each have a strip of cardboard attached to them and the wrapper between consists of a sheet of plastic material. This is of the type which can be stretched, but shrinkable material may also be used. A much cheaper and more productive method than those using complicated mechanical equipment. The contents are readily identified and the packing materials can be changed over to the best advantage depending upon the costs at a particular time. The blanks can be produced in large quantities in continuous rolls with tear off lines. |
