Bearing housing for ball or roller bearings - has flexible support to allow angular alignment for long shaft

The bearing housing consists of a flange (2) with which it is attached to a machine frame and a central cap shaped part (5) in which the bearing is mounted. Radially extending flexible strips (20) connect the central part to the flange. The flange and bearing cap are moulded from a glass fibre reinforced plastic, while the flexible support strips are moulded in position. The radially extending flexible supports can be made from a wire which is bent to and fro or can be in the form of a ring shaped plate with punched out holes. Any angular misalignment of the shaft can be taken up by the flexible parts.
