Increase of grid spacing for contact elements - uses elements produced with end strips which are stretched by insertion of wedge:shaped punches in strip holes

Contact elements, together with two strips holding them together, are fastened on a supporting plate, and after cutting off of the strips free contact ends so produced can be inserted into grid holes of a circuit board. Each strip is perforated, and perforations of one strip are in line with those of the other strip. Before the contact elements (2) are fastened on the supporting plate (4), and before cutting off the strips (5), two wedge-like widening punches (9) are consecutively inserted into two corresponding holes (6) in the two strips (5), so that parts (8) of the strip parallel to the edge are stretched.
