<p>I/C engine with small overall dimensions has a large swept volume, and two axially opposed multi-cylinder blocks arranged around a drive shaft. The pistons (2), by means of common rigid connecting rods (3), move alternatively in both directions, so that the power is transmitted by means of a non-rotating eccentric swash plate to a rotating drive shaft with a sharp angled eccentric projection on it. A connection piece (4) is provided in the middle or at the end of each of the connecting rods, with outwardly arranged swan neck curves (5), whilst on both sides balls (16) are fitted in the connecting rod ends, the balls being cup (8) supported and with pretensioned springs (9). The springs have a short path of action and with the balls provide a press. bearing between piston and swash plate.</p> |
