The device prevents vehicles from a accidentally driving over the edge strip of a motorway, esp. if the driver is tending to fall asleep. The edge strip is fitted with elevated pieces (5). These can be on an edge strip curbstone (4), or there may be an edge strip slab with elevated pieces. The elevations can be corrugated in shape. The noise produced by wheel contact with such elevations acts as an acoustic warning signal. |
