The inside caliper for relative measurement is designed for operation over a wide measurement range without requiring a great deal of instrumentation. The device has two adjustable arms which can be fixed in any position. One of the arms incorporates a fine measurement lever which transfers the measurement motion to a dial gauge or other precision indicator. The clamping mechanism incorporates tapered clamp surfaces between the arms so that a secure play-free locking is achieved with a smaller force applied to the clamp wheel. The dial gauge is protected against shocks.
