Three tier edge connector for printed circuit board - has slot at front for engaging board at centre and screened leads in outer tiers

The three tier edge connector is to be used with high density packed printed circuit boards which are linked by multi-strand flat cables. Each of the outer rows of contacts forms a signal plane. The centre tier forms the mass plane with the screened signal leads which make up the flat cable. The housing of the edge connector (1) is made with a slot on the side of the cable connections. This is used to engage the printed circuit board (2). There is a centre section on the board with the screened leads connected on one side and the terminal on the other side. The flat cable is folded to envelope both sides of the board.
