Stator and rotor stamping pairs, cut from a single blank, are held clear of each other during separation at different off-take conveyance heights, for working reliability and safety. There is a stator plate holding down pad, which is attached to the stamping ram, and which obviates a separate timed pad drive. A rotary post (29) has a shoulder (43) which supports the rotor plate (37) section. A surrounding lower table (31) face (44) supports the stator plate (36) section. A ram (67) mounted (72) adjustable pressure pad (73) isaside the notching and separating tools (68, 69). The sponge rubber faced (74) or spring loaded pad, presses on the blank (70) keeping stator and rotor sections apart.
