An apron for endovesicular operations has at its bottom end, an extension which can be fastened to the operating table. It thus forms a collector for rinsing fluids, and a drain pipe is provided to load the liquids away to a container. It is made from a sheet of polyethylene or polypropylene film; the top being folded over to form sleeves with a slot for the head. Beneath this folded section, the sheet is narrowed and cords are supplied for fastening to the surgeon's body. Used esp. in operations for the electro-resection of the prostate gland where a conventional collecting trough for the rinsing fluid and urine hampers the surgeon's access, and interrupts the work when it requires emptying. The ends of extension can be fastened to the operating table so as to form a collecting trough with a drain, whilst the other end of the apron is on the body of the surgeon. |
