The nail driving unit employs a striker bolt (21) with a magnetic head (22). The housing in which the bolt moves has two parts (12, 13) which fit either side of the bolt and in the assembled condition are held together by a rubber ring (19). At least one of the housing parts - has an opening (26) through which the nail (25) is inserted. The opening is provided at the front of the housing directly behind the nail guide jaws (16, 17). The opening narrows towards the guide jaws.
