The water collecting trough (1) for window cleaning tools comprises a U-section rail. It has on one side a hard rubber strip (2) which is folded towards the rail and tapers upwards with a soft edge. Suction heads (3) can be provided on the side remote from the trough to allow easy attachment to the glass pane or similar surface, so that the pointed edge lies flush against the pane ensuring that all the dirty water is collected up. The side openings can be closed up by a suitably welded ends.
