The foam plastics coated barrel is particularly for beer, being reinforced at the bunghole to withstand damage caused by frequent handling. The reinforcing member (15), extending in a circle round the bunghole and joined to it, is enclosed in the foam coating (12). The member can rest on the foam surface, extending underneath the latter shortly before its outermost edge (27), this edge being secured to the sheet metal of the barrel proper (11). The member can be of stainless sheet steel, with the edge welded to the barrel. Where it is embedded in the foam it can have bent portions, perforations etc so as to engage with it positively.
