1491343 Naphthacenequinone compounds MITSUI TOATSU CHEMICALS Inc 4 Feb 1975 [7 Feb 1974] 4766/75 Heading C4P Naphthacene quinone derivatives have the formula in which R1, R2, R3 and -CO-X-CO- are substituents in the optional positions on the rings of the compound; R1 and R3 may be the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, an hydroxyl or an amino group; R2 represents a radical represented by the formulae: (i) -COOR4 in which R4 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cyclohexyl or aralkyl group or a cation; in which R5 and R6 may be the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl or aryl group; (iii) -CONH-R7 in which R7 represents an amino group; in which R8 and R9 may be the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, or aryl group; (v) in which R10 represents a methyl group or a chlorine atom, or (vi) -SO 3 -R11 in which R11 represents a cation; and X represents a hydrazo or an aromatic diamino group. The compounds may be used as dyes or pigments with synthetic or semisynthetic high molecular weight organic compounds, such as amino-formaldehyde resin, polymers or copolymers of methacrylic acid ester, vinyl chloride, vinylidine chloride, olefines or styrene, polyamides, polyesters, or plyacrylic, polyacetal, phenol, alkyd, epoxy, cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose or cellulose ester resins.
